How to Mount and Use the Floating Acrylic Scarf Frame

Materials needed

 Level

Philips screw driver

Drill and ¼ inch or smaller Drill Bit

# 8 screw at least 1.5 inches. Don’t use the screws inside the box since it maybe too big. We included new screws attached outside the box with the instruction.

Mounting the Bracket

  1.  Begin by determining placement of brackets. A rule of thumb to hanging frames at the right height is to place the center of the frame at 57-60 in above the floor.  The placement of the bracket will be approximately 2.75 inches below the top of the frame.  If you are working by yourself, it may be easier to attach the bracket to the wall first using one screw. To do this, drill at the placement location of one of the holes using ¼ drill bit. Insert one plastic anchor into drilled hole using a hammer . Attach the bracket against the wall using a # 8 screw (snug to keep it in place but not tight)
  2. This will allow you to easily level the bracket as you place the rest of the screws. After leveling the bracket, mark the outline of the remaining circular holes. Move the bracket out of the way slightly so you can drill the marked holes. Insert the remaining plastic anchors.
  3. Line up the holes of the bracket to the anchors and apply the #8 screw until it touches the brace. Recheck level of the bracket one more time, then hand tighten using a manual Philips screw making sure that the brace is completely pressed against the wall without any space. If final level is not perfect, the screws can be loosened slightly to level it and be tightened again.

Using the acrylic floating frame for the first time

  1.  The acrylic is extensively covered by plastic wrap to protect if so, make sure to remove all the plastic coverings first.
  2. Using two hands,  place the frame face down on a soft surface like a bed or table with towels or blanket to protect the acrylic
  3. Detach the inner acrylic plate by loosening the screws. With the help of a suction cup (included), remove the inner panel and place it on the side .  Remove remaining plastic wrap in between the two acrylic panels.
  4. Place a scarf. The  top border should be as close to the top screws as much as possible to secure them well and avoid sagging.
  5. Replace the  inner acrylic panel aligning the top screw holes first . Lift with the suction cup to help with minor adjustment. The panel should now lay nicely on top of the scarf securing it in place.
  6. Insert the top screws first but don’t tighten yet.  Align the other holes and insert the remaining screws and hand tighten starting from the top.
  7. You can now mount the scarf frame to the wall using the interlocking bracket or just let it stand, by leaning it against a fixed structure.

Changing the Scarf

  1.  Unmount the frame and place it face down in a soft flat surface like a bed or a table covered in blanket or towel
  2. Undo the screws and using the suction cup, lift the inner acrylic plate and put it aside
  3. Replace the scarf. The  top border should be as close to the top screws as much as possible to secure them well and avoid sagging.
  4. Replace the  inner acrylic panel aligning the top screw holes first, the inner panel should now lay nicely on top of the scarf securing it in place.
  5. Insert the top screws first but don’t tighten yet.  Align the other holes and insert the remaining screws and hand tighten starting from the top.
  6. You can now mount the scarf frame to the wall using the interlocking brace or just let it stand, by leaning it against a fixed structure.
  7. Admire your Scarf!

Optional Magnetic Cable Clasps

This allows for a much quicker way of changing the scarf. It also makes the frame much lighter since you don’t need the inner acrylic panel.

  1.   Place the frame facing down on a bed or table covered by towel or blanket so as not to scratch the acrylic.
  2.   Secure the hardware to the frame using a different nut (included in a pouch attached outside the box), working on the top first.
  3.   Attached the magnetic clasps to the corners of the scarf(for 90 cm scarf, extra clasp in the top middle) Hang the magnetic cable loop in the hardware attached to the frame, giving the scarf a gentle stretch.
  4.   Mount the frame back in the wall (making sure the interlocking brackets are fully engaged. Alternatively, you can let it stand leaning against a fix structure (e.g., Fireplace mantel)
  5.   Magnetic Cable Clasp comes in white but available in different colors to match your scarf. Contact us to order a different color.

Tips:

  1.   Fabrics are always tricky to frame because it lacks stiffness unlike paper so they always want to sag. To ensure that the it stays secure, it’s very important to secure the very top of the scarf really well especially if the scarf is relatively small.  Place the top border of the scarf as high as possible so they are very close to the screws.
  2.  When assembling the double wall panel, always work at the top first. Insert the top screws first just to engage it but don’t tighten yet. Hand-tighten all the screws only after all screws are inserted.
  3.   If you decide to steam your scarf to remove wrinkles, give sufficient time after steaming the scarf you’re about to frame so you don’t trap moisture
  4.   The suction cup is useful and easy to lose. We always keep ours attached inside the frame either to the back of inner panel or the inner sides of the frame
