How to Mount and Use the Magnetic LED Scarf Frame

Materials needed

Level

Philips screw driver

Drill and ¼ inch or smaller Drill Bit

# 8 screw at least 1.5 inches. Don’t use the screws inside the box since it maybe too big. We included new screws attached outside the box with the instruction.

Mounting the Bracket

  1. Begin by determining placement of brackets. A rule of thumb to hanging frames at the right height is to place the center of the frame at 57-60 in above the floor.  The placement of the bracket will be approximately 2 inches below the top of the frame.  If you are working by yourself, it may be easier to attach the bracket to the wall first using one screw. To do this, drill at the placement location of one of the holes using ¼ drill bit. Insert one plastic anchor into drilled hole using a hammer . Attach the bracket against the wall using a # 8 screw (snug to keep it in place but not tight)
  2. This will allow you to easily level the bracket as you place the rest of the screws. After leveling the bracket, mark the outline of the remaining circular holes. Move the bracket out of the way slightly so you can drill the marked holes. Insert the remaining plastic anchors.
  3. Line up the holes of the bracket to the anchors and apply the #8 screw until it touches the brace. Recheck level of the bracket one more time, then hand tighten using a manual Philips screw making sure that the brace is completely pressed against the wall without any space. If final level is not perfect, the screws can be loosened slightly to level it and be tightened again.

Loading the Magnetic Frame with Scarf/Artwork for the first time

  1. Remove all the plastic covering the faceplate
  2. Lift the faceplate at the corner using a suction cup (note, suction cup doesn’t work well if plastic is not removed)
  3. Place a scarf.
  4. Replace the acrylic faceplate by holding left and right sides of the faceplate. Aligning the top corners first, the faceplate should now lay nicely on top of the scarf securing it in place.
  5. You can now mount the scarf to the wall using the interlocking brackets or just let it stand by leaning it against a fixed structure.

Using LED Illumination and Dimmer

  1. If you’d like the option of lighting up the display, attached power cable assembly to the frame (note use of dimmer is optional)
  2. Plug to a regular 110V outlet. You can also plug the power supply to a dimmer to adjust light output.
  3. If you’d like to move the display or change the scarf. Disconnect the frame from the dimmer/power supply first. Also, the detachable frame cable is long so you can position cable tip anywhere behind the frame . You can use a painter’s tape to do this and to hide the extra cable length. If you want to make the power supply cable less conspicuous against the wall, you can also use cable management kits/cable cover/concealer. These kits are usually paintable so they blend against the wall. ( See product pictures)

Changing the Scarf

  1. Disconnect the power supply from the frame.
  2. Unmount the frame and place it in a flat surface
  3. Use the Suction Cup to lift one corner of the acrylic faceplate. Put the faceplate to the side being careful not to scratch the acrylic (place it in something soft like a towel or bed)
  4. Remove the displayed scarf and replace a new scarf.
  5. Replaced the acrylic faceplate by holding both sides and aligning the top corners first.
  6. Mount the frame back to the wall making sure the frame bracket is centered and fully engaged to the wall bracket
  7. Reconnect the power supply.
  8. Admire your Scarf!

Tips:

  1.   Fabrics are always tricky to frame because it lacks stiffness unlike paper so they always want to sag. This is especially true if the scarf is relatively small. It’s very important to secure the very top of the scarf well first.  Place the top border of the scarf as high as possible so they are sandwiched by the magnets.
  2.   If you decide to steam your scarf to remove wrinkles, give sufficient time after steaming the scarf you’re about to frame so you don’t trap moisture
  3.   To hide cables, you can use small cable or cord cover/hider/concealer kits to cover the power supply cable so that only the tip is visible (see product pictures in our website). You can then position the frame cable receiver at the bottom of the frame so it’s barely visible and it lines up to the power supply cable using painter’s tape. Secure the extra length of frame cable at the back of the frame with painter’s tape.  This will allow easy cable disconnection when moving the frame.
